Goals
The goal of the Doniphan-Trumbull Early Childhood Learning Center is to provide a comprehensive child development program which focuses on curriculum, health, nutrition, family support, and community involvement.
Curriculum
The Creative Curriculum has been adapted by our school district and is used with all students attending the Early Childhood Learning Center. This is a research-based curriculum that is developmentally appropriate for the young learner.
Our curriculum encompasses key areas of early development which include Social-Emotional, Physical, Language, Cognitive, Literacy, Math, Science and the Arts. All students’ progress in each of these areas is assessed using the Teaching Strategies GOLD Assessment three times annually with feedback given to the families.

Health
Upon enrollment in the preschool program children are required to be current on their immunizations. A yearly health screening is available for all students. Head Start personnel check height, weight, vision, hearing, hemoglobin and lead exposure levels of preschool students.
Nutrition
Students have the opportunity to have breakfast and lunch at the school site. Meals are served using family style. Meal times provide many learning opportunities for students to acquire a variety of skills in a natural setting. Meals are prepared by the Doniphan-Trumbull Public School Nutrition Program.

Family Support
Family involvement is encouraged through parent meetings, conferences, home visits, classroom visits/participation and other opportunities that promote positive home-school relationships.
Community Involvement
The Early Childhood Learning Center has developed partnerships with several local preschools, day cares and childcare providers. Such partnerships encourage sharing of materials, ideas, expertise and other resources made available to the partners. A Preschool Advisory Board, which includes parents and community members, meets twice yearly to review programs and to discuss community needs and goals.
